General Statement of Services:
Bronx Shepherds Restoration Corp. (BSRC) a not
for profit tax exempt organization was established
twenty eight (28) years ago to empower the
community through a variety of housing
rehabilitation projects.
Throughout the years we have expanded our
services to include; home ownership, weatherization
projects, literacy programs, educational initiatives,
senior citizen services and training / employment
projects. Our employment services include,
employer linked workshops, direct placement
services and an array of differentiated educational
services.
Our training and employment workshops will be
tailored towards enabling the individual to achieve
their short and long term educational and
employment goals.
Together with our participating employers we have
developed a unique and rewarding employment
initiative geared towards providing our clients with
high wage earnings in a variety of occupations. Our
available occupations afford the clients the
opportunity to achieve their goals in the occupation
of their “choice” and interest. This specialized
employment initiative is the BSRC’s “Project
Success” program.
The program will assist the participants in the
elimination of the “barriers to employment” by
providing an array of support services and
employment workshops. All our services are
provided at “no cost” to the participant. In order to
enhance the job retention probabilities BSRC will
provide all our clients with Case Management and
Job Retention services.

Project Success
The BSRC’s mission through its Project Success’s initiative is to provide our students with a
variety of training and educational alternatives that lead towards “high wage” earnings and self-
sufficiency.
General Equivalency Diploma (GED):
In collaboration with the Office of Adult and Continuing Education we are now registering eligible
participants for our GED classes. Applicants will have to meet the minimum requirements, as
mandated by the NYC Board of Education. All sessions will include training supplies and testing
requirements at no cost to the participant.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
* 21 years of age or older
* 9th grade reading level (Testing for Adult Basic Education TABE)
* 9th grade math level (Testing for Adult Basic Education TABE)
* Bronx residency
* Commitment of Participation
Hours of Participation:
Classes will be held on Monday thru Friday between the hours of 9:am – 12:pm.

Nursing Scholarships Program:
In collaboration with the NYC Health & Hospital Corporation we are now providing eligible Bronx
residents with scholarships in the nursing field. Eligible applicants will have access to
scholarships for Registered Nurses (4 year scholarship) and Licensed Practical Nurses (2 year
scholarship).
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
* New York City resident
* High School Diploma or GED
* Minimum Income requirements
* Commitment of Participation
Participation Term:
The selected participants will attend regularly scheduled classes at Lehman College during the
preceding semester.
The scholarships will include all related expenses; tuition, books, and public transportation when
eligible.
The selected participants will submit a Letter of Commitment to work for the Health & Hospitals
Corporation, upon graduation, for a maximum period consistent with the scholarship period.

Direct Placement Employment Services:
Our direct job placement component is similar to our customized employer-linked training
component. Some of the clients will receive a one week course that focuses on the job specific
skills necessary to succeed in their direct placement. Our direct placement component is also
attached to specific employees; the following is a list of the available Direct Placement positions.
- Janitorial & Cleaning Services ( 8 hour Orientation, $8-$10 per hour)
- Security Certification Package (8 hours Pre Assigned, 16 hours OJT, 8 hours annual,
- 4 hour Fire Guard Prep Course, 8 hour Job Orientation, $8-$10 per hour)
- Case Management Assistant (2 days Introductory Course, Microsoft Office, $9-$11 per
hour)
- Clerical Support (2 days Introductory Course, Microsoft Office, $10-$11 per hour)
- Receptionist (2 days Customer Service Course, $9-$11 per hour)
- Interviewers (2 days Customer Service Course, $9-$11 per hour)
- Mail Room Attendant (8 hour Job Orientation, $9-$11 per hour)
- Inventory Control (8 hour Job Orientation, $8-$10 per hour)
- Factory Worker Machinist (8 hour Job Orientation, $8-$10 per hour)
- Home Attendant (Licensed Direct Placement, $8-$10 per hour)
- IT Telecommunications (Computer Based Requirements, $12-$20 per hour)

Occupational Workshop Components:
Our occupational workshops have been developed by our participating employers and our
Employment Specialist. All workshops are free and upon completion the participants is referred
to the employer for the interview process.
Legal Case Managers:
Legal Case Management is a customized computer based two week workshop program. The
session will consist of 80 instructional hours (2 weeks). The Legal Case management
curriculum is specific to Binder & Binder operations. The students will learn “legal case
management” procedures pertaining to disability cases. The curriculum will include such topics
as; Opening/Maintaining legal files, Initial Application and reconsideration stages, appeals to
District Court and Appeals Council, and fee’s agreements vs. fee petitions. The course will also
include customer relations techniques, career development strategies, and keyboarding.
Janitorial / Weatherization Specialist:
The Janitorial / Weatherization Specialist training was developed by BSRC to provide the students
with a thorough understanding of Janitorial responsibilities in conjunction with the conservation
techniques pertaining to weatherization. The two week workshop will include; basics of general
cleaning, resilient floors, carpet care, chemicals and safety, customer satisfaction and
weatherization practices as they relate to energy conservation.
Administrative Customer Service:
The Administrative Customer Service training is an enhanced customer service workshop with an
emphasis on telecommunications. The classroom instruction is computer based and delivered
with interactive software developed by Norvergence. The training will consist of 75 instructional
hours (2 weeks). The students will learn specific procedures pertaining to the
telecommunications industry in addition to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Data Base reporting,
Customer Scheduling, Customer Billing, E-mail correspondence, and enhanced customer
service telecommunications procedures.
